Weekly gigs in New Orleans
Tuesday nights
Rebirth Brass Band at the Maple leaf
Shannon Powell at Preservation Hall
Wednesday nights
Walter Wolfman Washington at DBA on Frenchmen
Thursday nights
Johnny Vidacovich at the Maple Leaf
Corey Henry at Vaughn’s
Sunday nights
Walter Wolfman Washington with Russell Batiste on drums. (another major influence on me). Every Sunday they bring out free crawfish at 10 pm. It’s awesome!
Stanton's Favorite Restaurants in New Orleans
-
Restaurant August. One of our favorite fine dining establishments. John Besh’s flagship restaurant.
-
Dante’s. It’s far uptown, not far from the Maple Leaf. Great food and outdoor dining.
-
Tommy’s Cuisine.
-
Gautraud’s
-
Bayonna. Susan’s Spicer’s flagship.
-
Domenica is a newer John Besh spot. Kind of a Mario Batali, Otto vibe... house cured meats...
-
Cochon is newer and is really good. It's mostly pork, all kinds of different ways. I call it the baskin robbin's of pork... 31 flavors of pig :) but it's killer!
-
Jaques-imo's (next to the maple leaf) is not as good as it used to be. if you're going to go to or play the leaf it's ok, but not really worth a special trip anymore...
-
Tommy’s Cuisine in the warehouse district is fun
-
Gautraud’s uptown is great
-
Bayonna. Susan’s Spicer’s flagship is always good
-
A newer one is Sylvain... great courtyard dining in the French Quarter
-
Another newer spot that is getting a lot of attention is Restaurant R'Evolution
